Hell's Canyon Homebrewers

Relax, Don't Worry and Have a Homebrew!

Welcome to the home of the Hells Canyon Homebrewers Club, the Lewis-Clark valleys very own organization for homebrewers and beer fanciers.  Members run the gamut from All-Grain brewers to Extract brewers to members still waiting to brew their first batch.  Basically, if you got 10.00/year, a love of beer and a couple hours a month, this club is for you!

It was a packed house for the June meeting at the Riverport Brewing Company. It turned out that there were three other parties going on the same night. We are now in July so you should be seriously thinking about brewing for Oktoberfest. Marv said that there is room in the cooler for your beer once it is carbonated. So brew now and get it on cold storage for Oktoberfest. July's meeting will be at Dave Koehler's house 3449 Selway Drive. We are hoping that it's not too hot out.  We will meet in his yard. Bring your lawn chairs.

We had a great meeting last time at Dave and Betty's house. Thank you both for your hospitality! Our next meeting (June) will be at Riverport Brewing Company. We talked about having another group brew at the brewery but did not pick a date.
May's meeting will be at Dave and Betty Kendrick's house 1131 30th St, May 26th.

April's meeting will once again be at Hogan's. Sorry I'm late posting this update. I thought I did it already. The Big Brew event will be at RiverPort Brewing Company on May 1st. Bring your equipment and brew one for Oktoberfest. RiverPort will provide base grains for beers brewed for Oktoberfest.
March's meeting will be a Hogan's again. I heard that the demo brew at the Northwest Best Spring Brew Fest was a big hit. Thanks to all who help out.

Up coming events. There will be another opportunity to demonstrate our craft at the Home and Garden Show Saturday the 13th. Also on the 13th is the annual St. Patrick's pub crawl. It's scheduled to start at 3:00 PM in Barleyhopper's and we will walk to RiverPort Brewing Co. pausing at all of the bars along the route.
February's meeting will be at Hogan's, Wednesday February 24th, 7:00 PM.

Up coming events. On February 27th there will be a demo brew during the Northwest Best Spring Brew Fest at the NPC fair pavilion. This will be an indoor brewing session. I was told there is free admittance and tokens if you brew. So pack up your gear and show up for the demo. Also, we are planning an outdoor demonstration during the Home and Garden Show at the NPC Fair pavilion. This event is the second weekend in March. I'm not sure which day the demo brew will be. Maybe more information will be available at the meeting.  Thank you, Tom Niewnehous, for keeping me posted on last months meeting activities.
January's meeting will be at Riverport Brewing Company again. Thank you Pete and Marv!

I have a couple life lessons to pass on, never be 5 minutes late to the brew club meeting because it will be over and you won't know what's going on. Also, if you plan to take your wife to dinner on New Year's Eve, make a reservation. This will help avoid the first lesson. Another one would be to just skip dinner and go straight to the Homebrew Club New Year's Eve party as there is a lot of great food people bring to share. A big thank you to everyone who brought food. It all looked great! Unfortunately I had just finished eating and could only manage some of the snack foods.

As far as what happened at the meeting I'll just refer you to the first lesson above.
December's meeting will be at Riverport Brewing Company. The last meeting was well attended. We had a discussion on becoming a non-profit organization and I believe decided against this action. It seems like there was something else I was suppose to report on but I don't remember what it was.  If you know of something that needs to be posted here, just let me know.
November's meeting will be at Hogan's. Kudos to everyone who wore costumes to the October meeting. Sorry I missed it. I hear there was discussion of Octoberfest and getting insurance for the event. We need to be some kind of entity before we can purchase insurance. There was talk of a group brew at Smokes and Suds. Thank you to Dave and Betty for hosting the meeting.
October's meeting will be our traditional Halloween party at Dave and Betty Kendrick's house on Wednesday October 28th at 7:00 PM. The address is 1131 30th St. It's just out beyond Sunset park to the East. This is a costume part so, dig those costumes out of storage and let's see who can come up with the best costume. See you there!
Here it is! The 2009 Octoberfest glass.

2009 Octoberfest glass

September's meeting will be on the deck at RiverPort Brewing Company. Always a great place to meet. Octoberfest is just two months away and if you still need to brew now is the time to get going on it. I should have an image of the glasses in a day or two and will post it up on the web site when I get it. Ed had the work schedule and beer list at the last meeting. Here is a copy so you know what you put yourself down for. If you can fill any of the empty spots, just let Ed know or let me know and I'll pass it along.  (SEE BELOW FOR NEZ PERCE COUNTY FAIR INFO)

August's meeting will be at Tomato Brothers. Mike noted that there are only three more months until Oktoberfest. We need more beer for the event so, if you haven't yet, brew a batch for Oktoberfest. Pete did a report on the trip to the Oregon Brewers Festival. This is a highly recommended event. Everyone should try to attend at least once.  There were a few new members at the meeting. If I didn't get your email address please send it to me so I can add you to the mailing list.
July's meeting will be held at Hogan's in Clarkston.  Sorry about the late update.
The June meeting will be held at Jennifer Cicrich's house, 533 Linden Ave.

Mike noted that 75 gallons of beer were brewed during the Big Brew event at Riverport Brewing Company. That is a good start for Oktoberfest which was noted to be only five months away.  It's not too early to brew a batch for the event.  It wasn't mentioned at the meeting but, the Oregon Brewers Festival is the last full weekend in July.  A few of us attended last year and plan to go again this year.  Riverport Brewing Company will have a beer at the festival.  If there is enough interest maybe a group could be put together to car pool or rent a van for the trip to Portland.
May's meeting will be at Riverport Brewing Company. See you there!
April's meeting will be at Noel Beck's house. "595 Crestline Circle, Lewiston. From the intersection of Bryden Canyon Road and 8th Street - On 8th street, go uphill (away from down town Lewiston) which immediately turns into Valley Vista Blvd, take the first left onto Knollcrest Drive, take the first right onto Crestline Circle Drive. Our home is almost at the top of the hill on the left side - house number (595) can be seen on the porch. Park where you can and come around to the back yard."

Mike reminded us that Oktoberfest is not far off and we should be thinking about the brewing for the event. Pete has registered the brewery for the AHA Big Brew event link on May 2nd. It looks like the plan is brewing and BBQ. The goal (with some help from Riverport Brewing Co.) is to brew a bunch of beer for Oktoberfest.

March's meeting will be at Dave Pankey's house, 108 Marine View Court.

The annual St. Patrick's walk will be March 14th starting at 3:00 PM.  We will gather at BarleyHoppers and end at Riverport Brewing Co.

The AHA Big Brew, National HomeBrew day is May 2nd.  The word I got was that Riverport Brewing Co.  was going to sponsor 100 pounds of malt (or was it 150?) to be used in brewing beer for Oktoberfest.  The event will be at Riverport Brewing Co.  More details to follow.

February's meeting will be at Rooster's.   There was talk of a possible club brew at Riverport Brewery to prepare for Octoberfest.  Hopefully we can put some details together next month.  Marv has a 40 gallon system we can us to brew some wort and everybody can ferment as they wish.  We need to put a date on this and ste it up.   Don't forget the last full weekend in July is the Oregon Brewer's Festival in Portland.  A few of us went last year and we aren't going to miss it this year.  Let's try to get a car pool going for the trip.
Last minute update! This months meeting will be at Dave and Betty Kendrick's house. Next month we will meet at Rooster's.

December's meeting was held at the brewery. Sorry I missed it. Mike Busch called to let me know the next meeting will be at Rooster's. They are moved into their new building and are open for business.

November's
meeting was re-located to Hogan's because Rooster's is closed while they are moving into their new building. If anyone missed the meeting because I didn't get the change posted here, I'm sorry. We had a good turnout and several beers to sample. There was an informal tasting with a vote for the favorite. Terry Bigger got the most votes with his Northwest Amber. Congratulations! The prize was a sample glass from the Riverport Brewing Company.

Speaking of the Riverport Brewing Company, I was told that Marv and Pete now have all of their fermenters full. Soon to be available for consumption. Pete mentioned that they plan to have a 'soft' opening on Friday, November 28th. So if you happen to be out and about on that Friday afternoon drop by the brewery and check it out.

Next month's meeting is our traditional New Year's Eve party. We got the OK to hold the party at Riverport Brewing Company. Bring along some type of finger food as well as your favorite beverage and join us for the festivities!

October's meeting at Dave & Betty Kendrick's house was a great time.  Most of us were dressed in black for Halloween.  The big topic for the meeting was evaluating the Oktoberfest event.  It sold out and the beer ran out earlier than what we had planned.  Discussions ranged from trying to limit the number of participants to how to bring more beer to the event.  We decided that it will be difficult to limit the number of attendees so we are looking at reducing the size of the pour to a sample of 5 or 6 ounces rather than a glass of beer.  We are also going to re-design our poster to emphasize the idea that the event is a sampling of homebrews.  Other ideas tossed around were to do a club brew before the event or possibly talking Riverport Brewing Company into brewing a batch of wert and we all bring our fermenter to be filled, take it home & pitch yeast.  This could be an interesting experiment to see what different yeasts and processes change the beer.

We have started a Yahoo group as a way to keep in touch with each other through out the month.  I have added a Click to Join button on the sidebar.

I probably forgot something.  If I did, just email me and I'll get it added in.

November's meeting will be at Rooster's Landing on NOVEMBER 19TH because of Thanksgiving.

September's meeting at Riverport Brewing Company was well attended.  Everyone got to take a look at the great progress Marv and Pete have made putting together the brewery.  Top subjects for the meeting were promoting better participation in the fair homemade beer category next year. It was speculated that so many of us keg now that getting beer into bottles for the fair entry is a problem.  One suggestion was to hold a meeting at Riverport Brewing Company just before the fair and have a bottling session after the meeting. People could bring kegs in the day before and put them in the cooler so they could settle before bottling.

Of course, the other big topic was Oktoberfest. Just days away. I believe I overheard that there were 28 kegs committed to the event. I'll be posting the work schedule here as soon as I get a current copy.

October's meeting will be at Dave and Betty Kendrick's house on Wednesday October 29th.  This will be a costume party so use your imagination and come dressed as your favorite ghoul, ghost, goblin or ???.

September's Meeting will start at the Riverport Brewing Company 150 9th St. Suite B., Clarkston.  There was talk of the meeting moving to Tomato Bros. after the nickel tour. Pete also mentioned maybe some other options so we'll just have to play it my ear.

At the August meeting Mike noted once again that Oktoberfest is near and if you haven't brewed a beer for the fest yet time is running out.  (if my count is right, four more weekends.)  The sign-up sheet for beers being donated to the fest was passed around as well as the work schedule.  I'll post a copy of the schedule in the near future.

August Meeting will be at Bruce and Kelly Gimoldby's 707 17th Avenue, on Wednesday August 27th.

July Meeting was at Hogan's in Clarkston. Sorry I wasn't there. As soon as I get info on the meeting I'll post it here.

OK, so I'm looking over this page and thinking, it's really long.  So, here's the deal.  I'm going to trim stuff older than a year off the end.  If you want to look at the older stuff I made a copy here

Hey all! Pete's been really busy lately between work and bringing a new brewery into the valley. So he asked me to take over the club web page.  Hopefully I'll be able to keep this site current.  Let me know if I have missed something or break the web site.  Thanks.  Brad Peer email me

May Meeting was at Hogan's in Clarkston.  Great turnout, and great beers all around.

Mike once again reminded us to get to brewing for Oktoberfest.  Anyone interested in attending the Oregon brewers festival needs to get in touch with Brad Peer as he is finalizing the arrangements.

June Meeting will be at Kelly and Charlotte Beans house in Lewiston on Wed, June 25th at 7:00pm.  They live at 600 20th Ave in the Reno area in Lewiston.  From Southway, turn south on 7th st then take a right on 20th Ave.  Their house is at the end on your left.

April Meeting was at the brew cellar at Wasem's Drug in Clarkston.  Thanks again to Rick for allowing us to use his space.  There was a tremendous turnout with over 35 people there.  Rick and his crew have done a fine job in establishing a homebrew store for us.  Many, many thanks.  There was a TON of great beer there.  Good job all!

I apologize for not keeping you more up to date, but as you know, Marv and I have been busy.  Check in at www.riverportbrewing.com for details and see us make our dreams into reality.

May Meeting will be at Hogan's in Clarkston on Wed, May 28th at 7:00pm.

March Meeting was at the Basalt Cellars in Clarkston.  Rick Wasem was a wonderful host and was gracious enough to share some of his great wines with all of the beer geeks in attendance.  The meeting was well attended with more than 30 people enjoying the excellent homebrews, wines and snacks.  What a great place for a meeting.

Mike reminded us to keep Oktoberfest in the back of our minds and make sure and get a batch going for it.  We discussed glass sizes and Dave Pankey is on a quest for the perfect smaller glass for this years event.

Rick Wasem announced that Wasem's Drug in Clarkston will soon be our one and only local homebrew supply store.  No more long trips to Moscow burning gas to get the goods we all need.  It's gonna be great to have a local resource for all of our brewing needs.  We all need to step up and support his efforts however we can.  Hopefully the homebrew area will be completed and ready for business somewhere around the second week of April.

Pete announced that the spring session of the LCSC Continuing Education Homebrewing Class will start on Wednesday, April 9th in his garage.  Registration was brisk this term and unfortunately the class is full +2!!  Twelve participants, makes a crowded garage.   We have always welcomed and encouraged alumni to attend, but keep in mind it's (more than ever) going to be (hopefully) controlled chaos.

National Homebrew Day if fast approaching.  Mark Saturday, May 3rd on your calendars and plan to attend this years big brew/BBQ!  We will be brewing and celebrating this glorious event at Marv's house this year.  We will have leftover brats from last years Oktoberfest and everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish of some sort.  Everybody is encouraged to attend and we welcome anybody who would like to brew.  Marv will be brewing, Pete will drag his crap over and hopefully we will get others to do so as well.  The AHA website has this years official big brew recipes posted on the site.  The first is an English Bitter that was a favorite of the late Michael Jackson called Chiswick Bitter.  The second official recipe is called Fill in the Hop Blonde Ale and addresses the current hop crisis with its rather vague hop schedule.  Participants can choose either of the recipes posted, or bring your own.  Of course there will be homebrew to quench your thirst as well.

Brad Peer had a signup sheet and more information about the Oregon Brewers Festival trip we are hoping to pull off.  The trip sounds like a blast!

New photos are here from this years Wild Rovers Pub Crawl.

April Meeting will be Wednesday, April 30th at 7:00pm at Wasem's Drug in Clarkston in the new homebrew and wine making shop in the basement.  Wasems is located at the corner of 5th and Elm streets downtown Clarkston.

February Meeting was at The Emperor of India King Thai restaurant in Lewiston.  Thanks for loaning us your space and for being such gracious hosts!  Lots of good homebrews all around as well.  There were around 18 in attendance and again, fun was had by all.

Upcoming events were the hot topic of the meeting.  First, mark your calendars and plan to attend the Home and Garden show at the Nez Perce County fairgrounds on Saturday, March 8th as we will be doing a demonstration brew in front near the entrance.  Plans are to brew some Scottish Ale for the LFD's newly forming drum and bagpipe corps.  Contact Mike Busch or Pete Broyles for details.

Next would be the annual Wild Irish Rovers St Paddy's day Pub Crawl and drink fest taking place on Saturday March the 15th.  We will be starting at Rowdy's Steakhouse and wandering the streets of Lewiston searching for that pot o' gold (or porcelain altar, whichever comes first).  For those who have never attended, you gotta do this at least once in your lifetime.  Scheduled departure form Rowdy's is 4:00pm.  You can contact Brad Peer or Pete Broyles for details.

Brad also presented some more information on the planning of the Great 2008 Columbia River Pub Crawl.  AKA a bus trip to the Oregon Brewers Festival in July.  He promises to have more details at next months meeting.

March Meeting will be held at Basalt Cellars in Clarkston.  It is located on Port Drive near the Quality Inn behind Costco.  Directions are here.

January Meeting was at Marv's house again.  What a great setup for our meetings and I think we had near a record for homebrews at this one.  Great job to all that brought beer.

Several things were discussed.  Brad brought information on a potential bus trip to the Oregon Brewers Festival in Portland that is being held in July.  We are anxious to see what he comes up with and there was a lot of interest in this event.  Thoughts are that if we fill the bus we can get the costs down enough that it would make it very do-able.

Pete brought up the upcoming St Patrick's day pub crawl.  Clint Shaul has been in charge of this for years and it is a hoot.  The pub crawl starts on the afternoon of the saturday before St. Pat's day (Mar 15th) at Rowdy's near the mall.  It proceeds (on foot) down 21st St to Barleyhoppers and then heads west down Main St.  17 Bars s the goal, and I personally guarantee a great time.  T-Shirts are available, preliminary costs are 25.00ea, but that depends on how many are ordered.  They may come in at less than that.  We need sizes sometime in Mid February.  Email me your shirt size and I will get it to Clint if you are interested.

February Meeting will be held at The Emperor of India King Thai restaurant at 854 Main St in Lewiston on February 27th at 7:00pm

Sorry for not updating the site sooner. Work has been real hectic lately. I will do my best to be quicker next time.

December Meeting
was at Dennis Schult's house on New Years Eve and was a great time. I had to leave early, so not much to report from me, but if you haven't heard, Dennis s leaving to move to Wyoming. Best of luck to you Dennis!

January Meeting
will be at Marv Eveland's house once again. 1327 Wallace Drive in Lewiston on Wed. Jan 30th at 7:00pm. Wallace is on the east side of 14th St. (Above McSorely and Regence) and Marv's house is on the left towards the end. See you there!

November Meeting was at Hogan's in Clarkston and we had a GREAT turnout.  Seems the club just seems to get stronger all the time and the beers get better every month!  Great job all.

Mike called the meeting to order and as usual, was a veritable font of great information.  I just can't remember what it was right now....

Marv challenged the club members to come up with beers that use a minimum amount of hops and/or a substitution given the current hop crises.  Some ideas were tossed around and it promises to be a fun experiment.  Try to come up with something we can sample at our February meeting.

Rick Wasem (from Wasem's Drug and Bassalt Cellars) attended and made the announcement that he would like to start carrying beer and wine making supplies at the drug store in Clarkston.  This is great news and we all need to rally support for this as it would be an invaluable resource for us to be able to pick up supplies without having to drive to Moscow or Spokane.  He would like for us to come up with a "wish list" of things we would like to see him carry.  So drop me an email letting me know what you would like to see and I will compile the list and get it to him.

December Meeting will be held at Dennis Schult's house on Monday, December 31st at 7pm as part of our annual New Years Eve get together at Dennis' place.  It promises to be a great evening of fun!

October Meeting was held at Dave & Betty Kendrick's house and what a blast it was.  We had a great turnout and had great costumes all around.  Not sure how many were there, but it was very well attended.  I have posted an album of the few photos I took here.

Dave Pankey gave us the financial report and the final numbers from Oktoberfest.  We had over 350 tickets sold and are completely out of glasses for the first time in years.  All in all, this years event went off great.  Besides being a great time, I think we came together and hosted a really quality party.  Good job everyone.  Mike started hounding us again to brew for next year.  It's only 11 months away you know!

We have been invited to participate in the lighted Christmas parade in Clarkston this year.  Mike volunteered to steer the committee to get this organized so anybody that would like to participate, please email or call him.  The parade is on Saturday, December 1st at 4:30pm.  We need to get our application in by November 29th so let's get rolling on this if we are going to participate.

Pete just finished up the LCSC Homebrewing class for this fall and reported that we most likely will cultivate several new members from the class and will definitely get some great brewers from the 10 students that took the class.  Jody Wood was at the meeting and brought a couple bottles of the scottish ale they made in the class.  Great Job!  She has already joined the club so welcome Jody!

We voted (kinda) and decided to purchase the "beer tent" from Marv so that we can have it for other events.  Marv bought the thing to use and it has worked our really well.  If you haven't seen it, check out the pictures from this year Oktoberfest.

Pete also announced that he will be hosting this years "Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day" celebration.  It is this Saturday, November the 3rd from 10am to 3pm.  A press release is posted here.

Door prizes this month were provided by Rogue, Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Brew City and Deschutes Brewing.  Many thanks to them for helping make our meetings (and lives) a little more fun!

November Meeting will once again be at Hogan's on Wednesday November 28th at 7:00pm.  If you have never done it, I would suggest that you try dinner there prior to or during the meeting.  Tony does a fabulous job there!

If any club members have any digital photos they wouldn't mind sharing, you can email them to me to be included on the web site here.

Anybody interested in joining can contact any member of the club, or just show up at a meeting.  Any member would just love to help a newcomer to learn to brew.

Reminder that this months meeting will be at Dave & Betty Kendricks house at 1131 30th St in Lewiston.  The google map is here.  Be sure and bring some homebrew and this is a Halloween Party so please dress (in)appropriately!

What a success this year's Oktoberfest was!  All I can say is if you weren't there, you missed a heck of a party!  Great Job everyone.  You can see what pictures I have posted here.  If anybody has any more, please let me know and I will get them up for you.

Mike asked that I post a link to the company that he gets the brats from.  We have been getting them from Usingers for a long time now and they never fail to impress.  There website is full of gift ideas and I am sure they are every bit as good as the brats.

Mike also asked that I post the recipe to his award winning stout mustard recipe here and I would love to!  So send it to me MIke!

September Meeting was at Marv's house and was a great time.  Marv has done a lot of work getting his house in order and it was a great place to hold a meeting.  Good job on the bar area and a million thanks for letting us make a mess out of it.  There were over 20 in attendance and a great time was had by all.

Mike had the leftover fair entries to distribute and last minute details were ironed out for Oktoberfest.  Dance Dynamix (a local dance group) has asked if they can perform during the festivities and we voted that indeed we would welcome them.  Also troop 162, a BSA troop from Lewiston inquired about possibly setting up a table to sell popcorn as part of their annual fund-raising.  Again a vote was taken and it was approved.

There were plenty of delicious homebrews there and quite a spread of snacks.

Dawn Melton from St Stans. was again there recruiting help for their beer festival being held on the 13th.  If anybody would like to help serve beer contact either Mike or Pete and we will let Dawn know.

Speaking of the "Taste of Hops", I have had several phone calls from people who have heard the ad on the radio for St Stans beer festival thinking that we had changed the date and location. Please make sure and let everbody know they are 2 different events.  I have contacted the radio station and gave information to them about our Oktoberfest and was told they would get it in their PSA rotation.  We'll see.

The work schedule is posted here.  If any member wants to volunteer to help out, shoot me an email and I will get you on the list.

The fair was great this year!  We had 47 entries which is up quite a bit from last year, but still a bit short of our record year with 61 entries.  Keep brewing!  I have posted an album of pictures here.

The LCSC Continuing Ed Homebrewing class-fall session is set to begin this Wednesday October 3rd at Pete Broyles house.  I think there are still a couple of opening so if you know anybody that may be interested, have them check it out here.  It's listed in the cooking section.

October Meeting will be at Dave and Betty Kendrick's house on Wednesday, October 31st at 7:00pm.  Date sound familiar?  That's right, COSTUME PARTY TIME!  I am sure we can muster up some prizes and prizes for costumes seems appropriate.

If any club members have any digital photos they wouldn't mind sharing, you can email them to me to be included on the web site here.

Anybody interested in joining can contact any member of the club, or just show up at a meeting.  Any member would just love to help a newcomer to learn to brew.

August Meeting was once again at Hogan's in Clarkston.  What a great place to meet, and still THE BEST micros in town!  Thanks again Tony and staff at Hogan's !! We had a great turnout this month with over 30 in attendance.  Lots of homebrew and lots of business this month.  Seems our falls get fuller and fuller every year.

Mike once again pushed Oktoberfest business as it is just around the corner on October 6th.  We need to get those beers brewed and carbed up so we can show everybody that the best beer in the valley is lurking in neighborhoods everywhere.  Sign up sheets were passed around for both the work details and for donating beer.  So far we have about 80 gallons committed and there are still a few open spots on the work roster, so get in touch with Mike or Dave Pankey and get your name down.

We also have some new events that we would like to participate in and spread the Joy of Homebrewing.

Sept 20th-23rd - Nez Perce County Fair  Entries are due Wednesday, Sept 19th and the judging will be on Thursday.  I think Mike has all the judges and stewards lined up, but we will let everyone know if we need help.  Get those entries ready for the fair!

Sept 20th - Business After Hours at locomotive park.  The Winter Spirit Committee commissioned the Hells Canyon Homebrewers to develop a Winter Spirit Ale for their luau to kick off the Winter Spirit for this year.  Pete and Marv came up with a winter warmer recipe and the committee loved it.  We were asked by them to come to the luau and serve the beer and help educate those about what exactly it is.  We will be brewing another batch of this on Monday, Sept 2nd at Pete's house and anybody is welcome to come hang out and/or help.

Sept 29th - Harvest Festival at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown.  We have been contacted to do a homebrewing demonstration.  Pete and Marv will be there to demonstrate an all-grain batch.  We welcome anybody to come and help and would love for somebody to brew a batch of extract beer as well.  Contact Pete or Marv if you are interested.

Oct 6th - Oktoberfest at Pioneer Park

Oct 12th - Clarkston Chamber Fall Beer Festival at Bennett Hall in Asotin.  Details to follow.....

Oct 13th - St Stanislaus Brewfest and Charity Auction at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds.

I will do my best to keep everyone apprised of these events.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me.

September Meeting will be at Marv's house on Wednesday, Sept 26th at 7:00 pm.  Marv lives at 1427 Wallace Drive in Lewiston.  It's just off 14th towards the top of the hill above McSoreley Elementary.

If any club members have any digital photos they wouldn't mind sharing, you can email them to me to be included on the web site here.

July Meeting was held at Hogan's in Clarkston.  Many thanks to Tony and the staff for accommodating us on such short notice.  Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to have our meeting as planned at Barleyhoppers.  The meeting was very well attended and the beer was AWESOME!

Mike again reminded us that Oktoberfest is just around the corner so get to brewing!  The club presented Marv and Doug with a plaque recognizing their achievement of winning a gold medal at the Reno Beer Festival recently with their Steamboat Stout.  Great Job Guys!

Pete and Nancy recently returned from a trip to the east coast and Pete gave a report on the breweries and pubs he visited while there.

There is a lot of brewing related stuff coming up quickly.  Of course the fair in Sept. and our Oktoberfest right after that but there are a couple of new things that we may want to be a part of.  The Clarkston Chamber is also planning an Oktoberfest, St Stanislaus Tri-Parish School is planning a beer fest in conjunction with their annual charity auction and the folks at the Dahmen Artisan barn in Uniontown would like us to do a brewing demonstration.  Detail will be forthcoming on all of these events and your participation would be much appreciated.

We had some giveaways this month from Sierra Nevada and from Deschutes brewery.

August Meeting will again be at Hogan's in Clarkston on Wednesday, August 29th at 7:00 pm.
